The 1955 Classification of Saint-Emilion

The official classification of?Saint-Emilion?wines was first conducted in 1955. It was updated in 1996, 2006, and most recently in late 2012. The classification has two principal tiers:?Grand Cru Classe?and the higher level?Premier Grand Cru Classe. The latter is further subdivided into tiers (A) and (B). The wines are listed alphabetically below, and each name is pre-linked to location and pricing information.

It should be noted that the?Grand Cru Classes?(of which there are 85) mark a significant step up in quality from standard?Saint-Emilion Grand Cru?wines (of which there are many hundreds). For more information about Saint-Emilion and its wines, see?Saint-Emilion Wine Region.
